Engineering disclaimer
The 6th Star calculator and guides provide educational planning estimates. They are based on widely used sizing methods and typical default assumptions (for example 90% inverter efficiency, a 0.78 solar system derate factor, and fixed depth-of-discharge limits per battery chemistry). Real systems are affected by factors the tool cannot know: your exact equipment specifications, local climate and shading, temperature, cable routing, ageing, and how you actually use your appliances.
- Results are not a certified design and are not professional engineering advice for your specific installation.
- Battery banks can deliver very high fault currents, and photovoltaic arrays produce dangerous DC voltages whenever light falls on them. Incorrect wiring or fusing can cause fire, injury, or death.
- Always verify equipment ratings against the manufacturer's documentation and follow the electrical code that applies where you live (for example the NEC in the United States, or IEC/EN standards and national rules in Europe).
- Have the final design and installation reviewed and, where required, permitted and inspected by a licensed electrician or qualified professional.
