Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026. This policy explains what information is processed when you visit 6thstar.com, including by our advertising partner Google.
Who we are
6thstar.com ("6th Star", "we", "us") is an independent educational website operated by Aleksandar Manchevski. It provides a free off-grid solar and battery sizing calculator and technical guides. You can contact us at manche@6thstar.com.
Information we collect
Calculator inputs stay on your device. The solar calculator runs entirely in your web browser. The appliances, wattages, and settings you enter are not transmitted to us or stored on our servers. There is no user account, login, or registration on this website.
Emails you send us. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in the message. We use it only to reply to you and keep it no longer than needed for that conversation.
Technical server logs. Like almost every website, our hosting provider may automatically record standard request information such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and time of visit. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running, and are not used by us to identify individuals.
Advertising and cookies (Google AdSense)
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Advertising revenue keeps the calculator and guides free. Google and its partners act as third-party vendors on this site:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices (US) or www.youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
- For details on how Google processes data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you. Non-personalized ads may still use cookies for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and fraud prevention.
Consent for visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you are shown a consent message provided through a Google-certified consent management platform before personalized advertising cookies are used. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the privacy/cookie settings link shown by that message. Our legal basis for personalized advertising is your consent; for basic site operation and security it is our legitimate interest in providing a working, secure website.
Other third-party services
To display the site, your browser loads styling and script libraries from public content delivery networks (cdn.tailwindcss.com and cdn.jsdelivr.net). These providers receive your IP address as part of delivering the files. Our guides also link to external resources such as NREL PVWatts and the EU's PVGIS; their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not keep user accounts or store calculator inputs, the only personal data we usually hold is correspondence you send us. To make a request, email manche@6thstar.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. We do not sell personal information.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or legal requirements change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
